The Rescue Community Center operated in the construction trailer through all of 2011.  Because of the poor economy, food distribution has increased about 50%. Clothing distribution took place outside the trailer on a limited basis because of lack of floor space and inclement weather.

In January 2011 the cement foundation and utility hookups were completed. At that time we had to stop construction and raise more funds. By late November, 2011, sufficient funds were raised to begin construction of the shell of the new Rescue Community Center building. Once the exterior shell of the building is complete (estimated by late January) donations of materials and volunteer labor will be sought to finish the interior of the building.

Our public fund raising campaign will continue to raise funds to complete the porch with handicap ramp, sidewalks, and driveway with parking spaces. At present, additional donations of $85,000 is needed to complete the project to occupancy.

Our vision for the completed building is to double the ministry to the poor. The new building will make this possible with four times the floor space of the construction trailer. In the new building, a multipurpose waiting room with restrooms will accomodate those who are coming for help. The room will also be used for educational and health screening services not presently possible. Ample floor space for clothing and furniture distribution will be available. The single floor plan will be efficient and accomodate more volunteers.

It is our prayer that the new Rescue Community Center building will minister to the poor community far into the future.
